Benchmarks FOR MPLS-TE

Hi all,
 
I am a graduate student. I am doing a bit of research in the MPLS traffic engineering. I read a few algorithms and their comparison with one another, but there seems to be a thing missing that is there is no bench mark with which the comparison is been made. If there is no benchmark then how comparison is been made?
 
Any pointers will be greatly appriciated.
