Hi All,

I am a bit confused with LSP Preference, LSP set up & holding priority and
LSP Pre-emption.

What I understand is that Preference is implicitly assigned to any LSP
tunnel based on set up & holding priority, means by assigning better set up
& holding priorities we know which LSP Tunnel shall be given priority to
Pre-empt and which shall be given priority to be Pre-empted……please correct
me if I am wrong.

What I don’t understand is the difference between the notions of Priority
and Preference, is there any actual difference between these ??

I will appreciate if anybody can give me a very comprehensive example of
answer, I have gone through the RFC’s but when it comes to actual deployment
it becomes a bit confusing.

Thanks in advance,
Saad Sheikh
