IMHO,
"market acceptance" of the MPLS is slow for several
reasons:
First, the current MPLS-VPN infrastructure is not
well suited for the real clients. The idea of having
an ISP in the middle of your routing protocol will
never appeal to any reasonable network manager. Of
course, this is not a problem of the MPLS per se, but
rather of the current IGPs, which are incapable of
"multihop" adjacencies.
Second, the lack of multicast supports prevents
deploying MPLS in MANs. Although the original Cisco
tag switching did have some multicast capabilities,
MPLS multicast support is in very early stages.
Third, most hardware platforms running MPLS still are
not up to the level of QoS support comparable to those
found in ATM network.

I think, we will see much broader technology
acceptance after the above problems will be resolved.
