Hi Chris, router1#sh mpls for la 38 only shows you labels for prefixes in the global routing table. You will not be able to see the vpn (inner)label. router1#sh ip b v a t will show you the inner label. If router2 uses y.y.y.y as the next hop to reach router1, do a "show tag-switching forwarding-table y.y.y.y" on router2, you should see what label it uses to reach router1. THis is the outer label.
