Hai,
This is regarding the label forwarding information Base.
we are developing some firmware code for a network processor which supports
the MPLS switching .
The forwarding table we are planning to maintain at the LSR for the label
swapping contains the following fields

----------------------------------------------------------------
IncomingLabel|Outgoing label|inpout port|output port|DMAC|O/P
-------------------------------------------------------------
O/p contains the info what should be done with the label ,
should be swapped, pushed or popped !

Now, the query is should the destination MAC address of the next hop router
should be maintained in this table ?
AS the packet is switched based only on the label and forwarded to the
output port mentioned in the lookup entry , should we mention the MAC
address of the next hop ?
In that case , the learning process should get the information from the
label dist protocol reg the next hop routers MAC address and update the
field!
Isnt it extra load on the processor?
Is some extra procedure done at the LSR other than swapping the incoming
label with the outgoing label and sending it on the specified output port?
One more query is regarding the incoming port !
When the forwarding label is maointained at the router level and not at the
interface level, should the incoming port validations be done before the
swapping of the label ?

Ganesh
