Paul:
I actually read the same thing, but it is a long ways away before it
is a standard. As of right now there are certain venders using the exp 3
bits, but like I said in experimental purposes only. I believe marconi uses
the exp 3 bits in the L-lsp frame header.

Hi Vicotria,

Does this mean that frame mode MPLS support for L-LSP is available? or
will be near future?
My understanding was that L-LSP was how cell mode MPLS was done, but
people are working on getting this done for the frame mode side..

thanks in advance,
Paul

Paul,

RFC3270 "MPLS Support of Differentiated Services"
by Le Faucheur and others defines how to map DSCPs
into the LSPs.

Specifically, with L-LSPs, the 3-bit EXP field represents
only the packet's drop precedence, and the 20-bit label
is used to convey the FEC and the scheduling treatment.

Hi,

Is there any support currently available by any vendor to handle 6 bits of
Diff-Serv on MPLS frame mode header, instead of the normal 3 bits? Or close
to making it happen?

thanks,
Paul
