This may have been one of the original arguments for MPLS - but is
it true today? If so, it would be useful to name specific platforms.

I have seen several statements from Cisco people I trust which say
that MPLS label lookup/forwarding is *not* faster than IP address
lookup/forwarding on Cisco equipment - neither on their software
based platforms nor on the ASIC based ones.
