Champion, 2 PE routers (your 7200's would be best) and 2 CE routers (the 3600's you have) is fine for a simple MPLS topology. There is no need to have a p router in the core to emulate a simple MPLS lab setup. 2 PE routers can establish LSP's between each other just fine without a P router in between. Of course adding a couple P routers in the middle to make a full mesh core would certainly make it more realistic and allow you to have multiple paths between the PE routers to test out the traffic engineering capabilities of RSVP. Penultimate hop popping (PHP) is a feature that is used to assist the last hop router by not requiring it to do an additional lookup. It is not a requirement that this be done, but it can greatly improve performance. So with 2 PEs only you don't have an MPLS core... Cisco implement MPLS from 2600's family to 12000... I am currently trying to setup a MPLS network in my lab. I have 4 routers, 2 Cisco 3600 series and 2 Cisco 7200 series. Am I able to setup a MPLS system with these element by the following configuration ? CE---PE---PE---CE Which routers should be treated as CE and which as PE? Is this the minimum routers needed to setup a MPLS network? Please give me your advice to enlighten me. Thank you very much. -- __________________________________________________________ Sign-up for your own FREE Personalized E-mail at Mail.com http://www.mail.com/?sr=signup ------- The MPLS-OPS Mailing List Subscribe/Unsubscribe: http://www.mplsrc.com/mplsops.shtml Archive: http://www.mplsrc.com/mpls-ops_archive.shtml ------- The MPLS-OPS Mailing List Subscribe/Unsubscribe: http://www.mplsrc.com/mplsops.shtml Archive: http://www.mplsrc.com/mpls-ops_archive.shtml ------- The MPLS-OPS Mailing List Subscribe/Unsubscribe: http://www.mplsrc.com/mplsops.shtml Archive: http://www.mplsrc.com/mpls-ops_archive.shtml |
