To run MPLS VPNs do i specifically need a particular series of routers..above
7000 series etc
or can i run MPLS VPNs on 2500 series routers too..

uh....no. We don't support CR-LDP; never have, never will. The
intserv model to which you refer is more a combination of RSVP+QoS
that has not much to do with TE. But we support rfc3209 for TE
signalling, and LDP as well. Not CR-LDP.
