We are interested on testing Cisco routers capabilities for load balance in
MPLS VPN L3, and AToM environments. At this moment the only information we
have is:

MPLS Load Balance:

If the packet has three labels or less and the underlying packet is IPv4
("I guess that ipv4 packet are identified checking if the first 4 bits
following bottom label are 0100, i.e. the Version field of an IP header
with value 4") , then router uses the source and destination IPv4 address.
If the underlying packet is not IPv4 or more than three labels are present,
the router parses down as deep as the fifth or lowest label and uses it for
hashing. The maximum number of load sharing path is 16.

AToM Load Balancing :

By default most AToM modes use a similar load balancing mechanism to
determine the tunnel label for the core facing interface: the router
distributes AToM VCs across all available paths, irrespective of each
link's load. The router hashes the VC label into an index value that is
used to select a tunnel label. The selected tunnel label is placed on the
top of the label stack of a particular VC.
There is no load balancing at the tunnel ingress (entendido como el PE
Ingress); only one Interior Gateway Protocol (IGP) path is selected even if
multiple IGP paths are available. However, load balancing is available at
the MPLS core .

¿Applies to all cisco routers or different platforms behave in different
manners?.
¿Any lab or real experience about load balance with MPLS traffic (L3 VPN,
AToM)?
