Definitely it should send a Notification with status "No Route".
In general, a "default LSP" that is established for a default route could be
very useful in order to save the number of LSPs required in a router.
In comparison to the number of IGP routes, the number of LSPs supported
in a single system might be limited.

Thanks for the reply. What if the router does not have the default route? In that case, does it send a Notification with status "No Route" like with any other route for which it does not have an entry in its routing table.

Thanks again,
Bageshri

If the router, which received a label request with FEC for a default route, has the default route,
then it is supposed to send a label mapping for it. Any valid label will be allocated,
because in terms of label allocation, a default route makes no difference
in comparison to non-default routes.

Hi,

What is a router supposed to do on receiving a Label request with the FEC tlv for a default route(0.0.0.0/0)? Is it supposed to send a Notification back with status "No route" or send a Label mapping for the same? If the latter is true, what is the label?

Thanks,
Bageshri
