Have u tried to reload the switch after alteration of MTU size ?
 
Which IOS version u have on your Cats and PE ?

The Switch doesn't support and "m*" commands (not sure if you meant mls
or mpls, but it has neither)

Also tried to alter the MTU on the switch, but it doesn't let me modify
it on GigE ...
