Hi Maher:

Have you tried using diffserv. If these are sensitive application and you offer Platinum, gold, silver and Bronze. Then perhaps a silver or gold VPN (this would be the simplest for testing)? Alternately if they have a single VPN then perhaps you can allocate certain amount of bandwidth - say silver to test out if this helps - this would require additional configurations bot at CE and customer router. Consider getting the answers to some of these:
- When you say it is taking longer for the retrieval - perhaps setting up logging at HQ and Branch office to see what is causing the delay.
- How does the application server compare in response time when accessed locally from within the HQ?
- How is the bandwidth utilization at the time of the delay?
- Monitoring the behavior at application level with something like Packeteer?

I hope this helps - I will watch the listserv with great interest to see what others have to say and how it will be resolved.

Mooney

Hi Mooney,

Thanks for replying. FYI, issues/behaviours of the application
complained from the customers site trying to access server in HQ. From
the branches, customers experience some delay uppon in retrieveing the
information and uploading information such as for CRM, databases and
etc.

I'm not so sure that which QOS technique should be applied to this
called sensitive application especially in mpls vpn enviroment.

thanks.

having difficulty grasping what the issues are with sensitive
applications? Is it related to the Application server OS itself or is it
related to the applications?
